Second Floor Lounge / Dining Area

The rebuilding and refurbishment of the house from its semi-ruinous state has been a long project which is still continuing.  We have recently done a partial restoration of the original decoration on the street facade and have installed some fine stained glass doors in the patio.

The second floor apartment – the Castilette – sleeps four with the possibility of an extra two.  It has an enormous living room under the roof, about 7 metres square (23ft x 23ft) which rises to 4 metres (13 ft).  It has a grand open fireplace for those cooler winter evenings although the flat is also centrally heated.

It is furnished mostly with old and antique furniture.  There is WiFi and a television (no English programmes) and DVD player.  There are two bedrooms, one, with an antique double canopy bed, the other with two single beds. The kitchen is fully fitted, all electric, with granite worktop.  It has a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, oven and hob and microwave. The bathroom has a short bath with shower and heated towel rail.

The flowery terrace, 2.75 metres x 7 metres (9ft x 23ft) gets sun nearly all day, has a canopy and boasts splendid views over the river valley to the mountains beyond.

The Ground Floor LoungeThe ground floor apartment – the Patio - sleeps two with the possibility of two more.

The furnishings are mostly old and antique.  The living room, dining room and bedroom all open directly onto the flower filled terrace.  It is centrally heated for those winter evenings when, even in Andalusia, there is a nip in the air.  The living room is 6.75 metres x 3.5 metres (22ft x 12 ft) and also opens onto the central patio.

There is WiFi and a television (no English programmes) and DVD player.

The dining room also opens on to the central patio.  The bathroom has a large shower cubicle and there is a heated towel rail.  The kitchen is fully fitted, all electric, with granite worktop.  It has a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, oven and hob and microwave.

The long terrace is partially covered to provide shade and offers equally splendid views of the countryside

View Across Central PatioIn between these two apartments is our, Julio and Ernest’s, own home where we live permanently and are therefore on hand to help with information and make sure your stay is a pleasant one.

We have five cats but they are confined to our part of the house. For some ten years we have been open three mornings a week giving away books and only asking for donations for charity. The front hall and the room next to it are full of books in many languages but mostly in English.  Both apartments are also well stocked with books but should you be short of reading matter, we can supply it.  We also have a large collection of books in English about Spain, some of which are quite old and rare, and we are very happy to lend them to guests.
People interested in Spain and Spanish culture might like to visit our site of old images of Spain   Some of these cover the walls of the apartments and stairs.

Ground Floor Covered Patio Area Julio loves to cook.  Guests often ask us about recipes and Spanish food and he is happy to share his knowledge.  He will cook with you or for you.  He also gives Spanish classes.  Should you wish to have some conversation experience, or just want to pick up some basic phrases, why not  have a lesson with him while you are staying with us?

Typically in these villages, you cannot park immediately in front of the house but we are on the only street through the old centre that does take traffic.  You can off-load your baggage at the door and proceed to a free parking building only a few minutes walk away.  Spanish village life can be noisy, especially when there are fiestas, but the house is so solidly constructed that this is never a nuisance.  We would not recommend our house for people who want a total beach holiday but, for those who want to combine the beach with a touch of real Spain, it is ideal.
